Event Specifics

  • What: League of Legends Tournament
  • When: RESCHEDULED February 24, 2019 @ 10AM – 11PM
  • Where: Carson Engineering Center Labs – Room 205/206
  • What: We will be facilitating a community focused tournament where you can come as a free agent. We will balance teams to the best of our ability and facilitate tournament play. Pizza will be provided, but bring your own drink!
  • Who: OU Students only (OU STUDENT ID CARD REQUIRED TO ENTER)
  • Cost: $0
  • Prizes: $10 Amazon Gift Card to each member of winning team, $5 to each member of runner up.
  • What do you need to bring: The lab in Carson is already outfitted for everything we need, but you are welcome to bring headsets, keyboard, and a mouse. We will NOT allow you to bring your own computer or monitor to this being a preconfigured lab. You’re also welcome to bring your own board games, Nintendo Switches, or homework and just hang out for as long as you’d like.
  • Anything else? The whole purpose of this event is to showcase that the OU Esports Club is all about gaming first and foremost and want to cater to every demographic we can from casual to competitive, console to PC, FPS to MOBA, etc. We will accomplish this with more and more programming from this point on. We have appreciated your patience while we got this all going, but now we have a team dedicated to campus programming. Not interested in OW or table top? We have more coming! Stay tuned!

  • 10AM – Check-in
  • 11AM – Check-in CLOSED
  • 1115AM – 1v1 Tournament Start
  • 1130AM – 5v5 Tournament Start
  • 12PM – Casting begins

League of Legends Tournament Ruleset and Guidelines

  • 1v1 – Double elimination
  • 5v5 – Round Robin / Swiss for decent turnout so everyone plays
    • Double elimination for large turnout

Other Details

Event coverage will be streamed on our Twitch channel by our shoutcasting team under the guidance of David Kaucic, the Shoutcasting Team Director. Event coordination and tournament organization are under the guidance of Kevin Nguyen, the League of Legends Ambassador, and Noah Hassoun, the general programming ambassador as part of the collective efforts underneath Callie Simonton, the Community Director. Mike "Moog" Aguilar

Mike "Moog" Aguilar is the Director of Esports & Co-Curricular Innovation at OU. He also works for OU IT doing project management and business analysis as well as an adjunct instructor for the Gaylord College of Journalism & Mass Communication. He is a US Army veteran, has worked for Apple, worked in the public sector, and is a photographer of two decades. Mike has been a gamer since the Atari in the 80s and has been pioneering esports and gaming development and innovation at OU since 2016.
