We’re the News Team

Welcome to a new school year Sooners! Let us introduce ourselves. We are the writers of Sooner Esports.

The name is Stingray Schuller, yes, Stingray. I am a transfer student from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Creative Media Production. Freshman year of high school my friend was playing a video game during lunchtime on his laptop, and that introduced me to the world of PC gaming. I will be producing videos for the news team.

Hi, I’m Salvador Soldi and I’m majoring in Creative Media Production. My first gaming experience was in 2005 when my brother introduced me to this small indie title called World of Warcraft. I’m a fanatic about peripherals, from mice and keyboards to monitors and the like. I’m also into professional Counter-Strike so expect some analysis and commentary on players, tournaments, stats, teams, etc.

Hello world!  My name is James Myers and I am a Creative Media Production major.  When I was a kid, my father and I used to play against each other on NCAA Football 1999 (talk about a throwback!) and that began my love for video games.  Whether it be the latest installment of Madden or a groundbreaking game like God of War, I hope to give reviews of the latest in gaming and to give commentary on what the best are playing!

Hi, my name is David and I’m an alcoho… Huh? Oh, writing. Right. I’m a Chemical Engineering major, which you can totally tell by my rampant self-confidence and expressive people skills. One of my first games was the original Starcraft, which threw me headfirst into the world of video games and sparked a lifelong passion. Now that Starcraft is dead, my forte is League of Legends, where you’ll see me casting and covering any and all events as well as writing more heavily opinionated articles about the state of the video game community.

Hi! My name is Courtney and I am currently studying Interior Design and Architecture. I started gaming when I was young with my older brothers. Long hours of playing Gears of War, Halo, and World of Warcraft color my childhood memories. I love playing games with my friends such as Overwatch, Dungeons and Dragons, and any other fun thing we can get our hands on. I love to discuss and write about current social issues and how they tie into the gaming community, as well as new developments within the community.

Hi, I’m Alex Heuer, and I’m a Computer Engineering major. In third grade, a friend introduced me to Runescape. I spent every day that summer grinding out levels, and I’ve been a gamer ever since. While my opinions on games rarely extend beyond a simple “I liked it” or “Didn’t care for it”, you’ll see me voice much deeper critiques, concerns, and recommendations surrounding a variety of gaming peripherals in my product reviews.

Hey everybody, my name is Alex Sigman and I am studying Online Journalism. I started on gaming very young, spending much of my time as a toddler sitting on my dad’s lap watching him play Crash Bandicoot on the original PlayStation. My love for video games only grew and now I enjoy expressing my passion through the journalistic side of games. I dabble in almost any kind of writing when it comes to games, so expect a broad variety of opinions and focuses when it comes to my personal writing.

Hi there! I’m Bailey Brown and I’m the editor in chief of Sooner Esports. I didn’t start really gaming until I got my hands on my first ever Nintendo DS. Since then, I’ve fallen for the world of Nintendo and recently got into competitive online games, like Overwatch and Hearthstone. When it comes to writing, I’m all over the place on here, catch me recapping events and always covering what’s happening with Nintendo.

We hope that is a place where we can express our opinions and our creativity freely, while also informing and entertaining our readers. Thank you for meeting us and we hope you look forward to our content.
